Valsts prezidents ar EK izpildviceprezidentu V. Dombrovski pārrunā ES izejas stratēģiju no COVID-19 izraisītās krīzes
Today, President of Latvia Egils Levits had video call with European Commission (EC) Executive Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis. Virtual meeting focused on Covid-19 crisis in Europe, EC aid policies for member states and their societies, as well as main elements of lockdown exit strategy.

Executive Vice-President Dombrovskis presented EU Recovery Fund, which has been created to restore growth in EU’s member states.

Egils Levits and Valdis Dombrovskis discussed European Union (EU) toolbox for the use of mobile applications for contact tracing and warning, a guidance developed by EC together with member states and announced on 8 April. President and Executive Vice-President both underlined the positive public health and safety effects of such applications, but their use should be strongly aligned with EU’s personal data protection policies and voluntary (consent-based) user rules.

President Levits and Executive Vice-President Dombrovskis also talked about the future of the EU and multi-annual financial framework of the Union. Egils Levits and Valdis Dombrovskis agreed that encouraging of inclusive growth to ensure quick labour market recovery from Covid-19 crisis, alongside the green and digital transformation agenda, is equally important for EU’s future.
