On 22 March, President Edgars Rinkēvičs paid a working visit to Saldus Region to meet with the leadership of Saldus Municipality Council and entrepreneurs. The President also visited several enterprises and the Saldus Homecrafts evening market. In addition, President Rinkēvičs visited the Colonel Oskars Kalpaks Museum and memorial site "Airītes".
The President of Latvia gained insight into the current events, challenges, and development opportunities of entrepreneurship in Saldus Region by meeting with entrepreneurs from various sectors in a joint conversation at the Saldus "KOPtelpa" as well as by visiting local and foreign capital companies, including the ice cream production company "Tērvete Food" Ltd, and the advertising, representation materials and packaging production company "Karlsberg" Ltd. During his visit, E. Rinkēvičs toured the building materials production company "Schwenk Latvija" Ltd. that recently partnered with energy company "AJ Power" to establish the largest industrial solar park in Kurzeme. He also stopped by the Saldus Homecrafts evening market.
"There are relatively many competitive and export-oriented companies in Saldus. I visited several of them today. I had a conversation with several entrepreneurs to discuss reducing red tape and promoting entrepreneurship in the region. There are ambitious entrepreneurs here, both large and small, who care about Latvia's prosperity," said President Rinkēvičs.
In response to an invitation from local youth on Instagram, the President of Latvia had a friendly meeting with the students of Druva High School.
During the visit to Saldus, the President of Latvia also toured the Museum of the First Commander of the Latvian Army, Colonel Oskars Kalpaks, and the memorial site "Airītes". President Rinkēvičs laid flowers at the memorial site of O. Kalpaks and got acquainted with the museum's exhibition, including the open-air exhibition "Battle Outpost", which opened in 2023.
Later in the day, President Rinkēvičs gave an interview to a local newspaper.
