President and leadership of the Court Administration discussed the progress in implementation of e-services. President Levits praised the forward-thinking approach of the Court Administration to modernising public court services, including the launch of several information systems and virtual assistant Justs (Justus), for which it has received international recognition – European Public Sector Award and European Commission’s special prize ‘Crystal scales for Justice’. ‘Innovative solutions implemented by Court Administration have put us ahead of the rest and brought our public sector into international focus,’ said Egils Levits.
Meeting also focused on past work of Court Administration in fostering public communication of courts. President Levits underlined the importance of communication for judges. Such communication helps to get the essence of judgements across to media or general public, and thus improves public awareness on how courts operate.
