During a conversation with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to the Republic of Latvia Mr Konstantin Obolensky, the President of Latvia emphasised that Latvia and Switzerland developed friendly and close relations. Latvia highly appreciates the Swiss Cooperation Programme in Financial Assistance. The President of Latvia also expressed the hope that negotiations on a new programme would be launched in the nearest future. Raimonds Vējonis expressed satisfaction with the agreement reached between Latvia and Switzerland for the creation of a new exhibition devoted to Rainis and Aspazija, which will be unveiled in the new premises of the Lugano Historical Archives in 2018, marking the centenary of Latvia.
During his meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of Latvia Mr Dragan Momčilović, the President of Latvia welcomed the current bilateral relations, a regular political dialogue, and cooperation in regional organizations and initiatives. Latvia supports Serbia’s integration into the European Union and calls on Serbia to continue the reforms.
In his meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Republic of Latvia Mr Alberto Bertoldi, the President of Latvia appreciated the contribution of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the provision of humanitarian, social, and medical assistance throughout the world. Raimonds Vējonis noted that the Assistance Service of the Sovereign Order of Malta has provided significant social support to the people of Latvia, especially after the restoration of its independence. He also invited the Sovereign Order of Malta to activate its mission in Latvia while working on specific social projects.
