Raimonds Vējonis
President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis accredited Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Benin to the Republic of Latvia Eusebe Agbangla and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Côte d'Ivoire to the Republic of Latvia Mina Marie Balde-Laurent. 

 

During the meeting with the Ambassadors of the two countries in West Africa, the President of Latvia assured of the Latvian intention to promote political dialogue and interest in cooperation in various fields, including education, trade, transport, and logistics.

 

Raimonds Vējonis emphasised the offer of Latvia in higher education in particular by providing studies in English in social sciences, medicine, and engineering. The President of Latvia also expressed his support to the main topic of the forthcoming Fifth European Union - Africa Summit in November this year, which included opportunities for young people by promoting their education, employment, and participation in governance that facilitated opportunities for employment in African countries and reduced the risks of poverty, migration, and radicalization.

 

Diplomatic relations between Benin and Latvia were established in 1997, whereas diplomatic relations were established with Côte d'Ivoire in 1996. The both Ambassadors will reside in Denmark.
