“We are interested in expanding a political and economic dialogue with India, including intensifying the mutual exchange of visits,” outlined President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis during his meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Latvia Monika Kapil Mohta.

 

Latvia is a suitable place for organising transit and logistics between the markets the European Union and Asia. Raimonds Vējonis also reiterated Latvia’s interest in intensifying cooperation in education and information and communication technology.

 

In their turn, opportunities to promote political, economic, cultural, and educational cooperation between the countries were the main topics that the President of Latvia discussed with new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Morocco to Latvia Amina Bouayach.

 

“We consider agriculture and food industry, wood and its products, green energy, ICT, transport and logistics, and tourism as prospective sectors for economic cooperation between Latvia and Morocco,” stated Raimonds Vējonis. He mentioned cooperation among the experts of various fields as one of the practical steps to that end.

 

The President of Latvia and the Ambassador of Morocco discussed cooperation opportunities between the European Union and Morocco in solving the current migration issues.

 

In his turn, during a meeting with Ambassador of Qatar Ahmed Saif Saif Khalaf Al-Midhadi, Raimonds Vējonis informed that Latvia intended to appoint a non-resident Ambassador of Latvia to Qatar and to intensify the cooperation in the field of agriculture and parliamentary cooperation.

 

“I am pleased that the interest among Latvian exporters increased in the opportunities existing in the Gulf region, including Qatar. We would like to develop cooperation in already existing exporting areas, particularly timber industry, food production, transit, IT and pharmacy,” said the President of Latvia.

 

The Ambassador of Qatar noted the bilateral opportunities to cooperate in the energy sector, especially in trade of liquefied natural gas.

 

During meetings with the Ambassadors of India, Morocco, and Qatar, the head of state expressed Latvia’s interest in promoting bilateral cooperation in the field of culture and education, including the potential exchange of lecturers and students within the study programmes of the University of Latvia.
