Latvia and Armenia share friendly and constructive relations, while there are still opportunities for greater cooperation in economics, education, and culture, as President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis said during an accreditation visit of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia Tigran Mkrtchyan to Latvia today.

  

During the meeting, the President of Latvia appreciated constructive approach of Armenia to its relations with the European Union, with particular emphasis on the progress reached during the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius and Riga. He also noted that effective implementation of the EU-Armenia visa facilitation and readmission agreements was important that would enable to start the visa dialogue.

 

During accreditation of Ambassador of Luxembourg Conrad Bruch to Latvia, the President of Latvia appreciated the good political relations between Latvia and Luxembourg, including regular cooperation between the Baltic States and Benelux countries in the 3+3 format.

 

While discussing the security situation in the region, the President of Latvia welcomed the decision made at the Warsaw Summit to increase NATO’s presence in the region. He highly assessed contribution of Luxembourg in the NATO’s presence in Lithuania, which was a strong signal of the unity among NATO Member States.
