Addressing the new judges, the President of Latvia emphasised that a strong judicial system and professional judges were a strong foundation of the country. It is important that there is one law and one fairness for all in the courts by promoting the public trust in the rule of law and the rulings of the courts. Raimonds Vējonis also pointed out that any judge should continue their professional improvement on a daily basis, never stop acquiring new knowledge, and seek opportunities to improve the operation of courts.
The Saeima appoint Linda Dīzenberga and Silvija Saleniece as judges of the district (city) court at the sitting of 21 September 2017. Dainis Locis was appointed as a judge of the Land Registry Department of the district (city) court at the sitting of the Saeima of 12 October 2017.
The Law provides that each judge shall give an oath (affirmation of office) to the President of Latvia before the commencement of his or her duties and shall solemnly promise to be honest and just, and faithful to the Republic of Latvia, always strive to clarify the truth, never give it up, and judge strictly in accordance with the Satversme of the Republic of Latvia and laws.
