“The rule of law, rather than the use of force can bring justice and peace. I hope that we are willing to listen to the thoughts of the international law lawyers. Then we will be able to say that weapons are silent when international law speaks,” said Raimonds Vējonis.
The President of Latvia expressed his gratitude to the President of the ESIL, Professor André Nollkaemper for organization of such large-scale ESIL conference in Latvia and Judge of the Constitutional Court of Latvia Ineta Ziemele for her idea to hold the conference in Riga and the great contribution in organizing the latter.
An annual conference of the European Society of International Law is held in Riga this week, where more than 400 lawyers from 43 countries participate in order to discuss action of international and European law in the event of various crises.
