Vācijas prezidents un Latvijas Valsts prezidents sarunājas

H. E. Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany, will pay a working visit to Latvia on 15 – 16 February upon the invitation of the President of Latvia Egils Levits. He has also been asked to deliver a speech at the international academic conference ‘100 years of Satversme’ as its guest of honour. Conference will take place on 16 February at the Riga Castle. Bilateral meeting between the heads of both states will focus on wide ranging bilateral relations and international agenda, including security in Europe.

On 15 February, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will arrive at the Riga Castle for the meeting with President of Latvia Egils Levits. Meeting will be followed by a joint press conference. On 16 February, Mr Steinmeier will take part in the international academic conference ‘100 years of Satversme’, held at the Riga Castle. He will deliver the speech titled ‘For Democracy and Freedom in Europe – Lessons from our Common Constitutional Tradition’. After the conference, President Levits and President Steinmeier, who are also the patrons of Riga Wagner Hall reconstruction project, will visit the famous house. Heads of both states are also scheduled to visit the site of Rail Baltica construction project to underline the significance of the project in enhancing the future connectivity of the Baltic Sea region.

President of Germany will be accompanied by his spouse Ms Elke Büdenbender. First Lady of Germany, Ms Elke Büdenbender, and First Lady of Latvia, Ms Andra Levite, are planning to meet with NGO Riga TechGirls at the Riga Castle on 15 February in scope of the visit of President of Germany to Latvia.
