The visit of the President of Georgia is a testimony to the close ties and the active cooperation between Latvia and Georgia in economics, trade, education, culture, tourism, and other areas.
President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis emphasises, “Latvia has always been and will be Georgia’s supporter and friend on its way to the European Union and NATO. We also reiterate Latvia’s constant support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. ”
On May 15, the meeting of President of the Republic of Georgia Ms Salome Zourabichvili with President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis, a meeting of the delegations of both countries, and press statements of the Presidents in the Riga Castle, as well as a solemn flower-laying ceremony at the Freedom Monument is planned. The visit will continue with a meeting of President of Georgia Ms Salome Zourabichvili and Speaker of the Saeima Ināra Mūrniece and Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš. In the afternoon, a visit to the Occupation Museum of Latvia is planned. At the end of the day, the President of Latvia will hold an official dinner in honour of the President of Georgia.
