On 28 June at the Riga Castle, President of Latvia Egils Levits awarded Certificates of Merit to the experts of the Latvian National Archives Antra Mazūra, Meldra Usenko and scientific editor Ainārs Lerhis for their outstanding work and significant contribution to the promotion of the Latvian national documentary collection and the image of the archive, strengthening the social memory of our nation.
"The Latvian National Archives preserves the state's history and national memory. It is a very exciting place to be. Your primary job is to preserve it, and the second - is to make those treasures found in the archive known to the nation. I would like to highlight in particular the exhibition catalogue “There is Latvia. Latvia is free”. It is also of a particularly high methodological quality, where you have managed to show how Latvia regained its freedom. To a large extent, our people, especially the younger generation, who have not experienced this period, can form their perception based on your work, which is historically accurate and in a way accessible to people," said President Egils Levits when presenting the Certificates of Merit.
