On 22 January, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met in Davos with the leader of Belarusian democratic forces, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya.
President Rinkēvičs expressed his support for Belarusian democratic forces, condemned the repression against civil society and the opposition, and conveyed Latvia’s solidarity with political prisoners and their families.
The President also heard concerns regarding the upcoming presidential elections in Belarus and the potential for severe crackdowns on civil society.
