The address by the President of Latvia at the Freedom Monument is a new tradition on the day of inauguration.
On this solemn occasion, an address by the President of Latvia and a solemn oath to the Saeima are scheduled.
Honouring the founder of the presidential office, President of Latvia Egils Levits and First Lady of Latvia Mrs Andra Levita will lay flowers at the monument of the first President of Latvia, Jānis Čakste at the Forest Cemetery.
At 12 o’clock, President of Latvia Mr Egils Levits will address the audience at the Freedom Monument and participate in the solemn flower-laying ceremony.
Later on, President of Latvia Mr Raimonds Vējonis will hand over the keys of the Riga Castle to Mr Egils Levits symbolically. At the end of the day, a reception will be hosted in honour of the inauguration of President of Latvia Mr Egils Levits at the National Library of Latvia.
We do hereby invite media representatives to apply for accreditation to cover the inauguration events of the President of Latvia by 9 a.m. on 4 July 2019 by filling out the application form drafted by the Chancery of the President of Latvia for each person to be accredited.
When attending events, one shall observe the dress code of business attire with a formal suit for men and a business suit for women. Please note that the permanent accreditations of the Chancery of the President of Latvia shall not be valid to cover those events. On the other hand, permanent accreditation of the Saeima shall be valid for work in the Parliament on 8 July 2019. Media representatives who do not have permanent accreditation for work in the Saeima must apply for the coverage of the event in advance.
