On 11 November, Lāčplēsis Day, President of Latvia Egils Levits attended the Ecumenical Service at the Riga Cathedral and honoured the memory of Latvian freedom fighters by participating in a wrath laying ceremony at the Riga Brethren Cemetery.
‘Today we pay tribute to Latvian soldiers and army that liberated Latvia and gave all of us an opportunity to live in an independent and free Latvia 104 years later. However, freedom and independence of Latvia needs to be protected even today and we need our soldiers to do the job. Together we make Latvia,’ President of Latvia Egils Levits said.
