On 20 January the President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs participated in the commemoration of the 1991 Barricades at Doma Square.
In his address, President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs said:
Every generation has its own barricades. In 1991, we fought for our fragile freedom, for its restoration. Today, the most important task is to preserve our freedom, by strengthening our country, by helping Ukraine, and by doing everything in our daily lives to make Latvia what we and those who were on the Barricades in 1991 would like to see.
