On 4 March, President Edgars Rinkēvičs held a meeting with representatives of the Free Trade Union Confederation of Latvia to listen to the perspectives of trade unions and workers.
"Although workers and employers have a shared interest in enhancing Latvia's competitiveness, they may have differing opinions on how to achieve this goal. It is essential to maintain a respectful and constructive dialogue between the public administration, workers, and employers. It is critical to reach a compromise to establish a stimulating work environment and implement practical changes," said President Edgars Rinkēvičs after the meeting.
The meeting thoroughly discussed the challenges faced by workers, including the deficiencies of the wage system in various sectors, such as home affairs, transport, education, health, cultural, industrial, and forestry sectors.
