On 18 April, President Edgars Rinkēvičs held a meeting with the newly elected Council of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and its board members to discuss the development of the Latvian economy as well as current challenges faced by entrepreneurs.
The President of Latvia congratulated the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the establishment of the think-tank LaSER (Latvian Institute for Strategy and Economic Solutions) and the presentation of the first research study "Four Future Scenarios for Latvia". "There is no doubt that Latvia has every opportunity to become one of the fastest growing countries in the European Union, our potential is on par with our neighbours. This objective must be clearly articulated and pursued. The four future scenarios outlined in the LCCI study serve as a solid foundation for this endeavour. It is critical to work together both on forging a vision and on its realisation," noted President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs.
The meeting addressed priority issues to entrepreneurs, such as the administrative burden and bureaucracy, tax policy, labour availability, finance accessibility, and energy strategy. The parties also discussed issues of mutual cooperation, including the organisation of foreign visits of the President of Latvia.
