Today the President of Latvia Egils Levits met with the Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš. During the meeting, the government's action plan was discussed, as well as specific issues related to the reforms of the health and education systems. The meeting also focused on the future work of the Central Election Commission (CEC). President Levits noted that the CEC should be an independent organisation, but that it needed technical support. E. Levits called on the State Chancery to organise the necessary technical support for the CEC in preparation for next year's European Parliament elections.
