On 29 November, President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs, on his working visit to the Republic of Korea, visited the Korean War Memorial, where Latvian soldiers who had fallen in the Korean War were commemorated in a solemn ceremony. An exhibition dedicated to Latvians in the Korean War was also opened at the Korean War Memorial.
Four Latvians made the ultimate sacrifice in the Korean War, serving in the US Army – Private Aivars Kārlis Salenieks and Private First Class Bruno Glāzers, Rūdolfs Liepa and Jānis Krūmiņš.
