On 10 October, President of Latvia Egils Levits met with Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš to discuss the formation of the new coalition and government negotiations. Following the meeting, President Levits gave a statement in which he insisted that the next government should be capable of working the full term of four years. According to President, new government’s priorities should include strengthening of the rule of law, economic growth and good governance. President Levits has therefore urged potential coalition members to start in-depth discussion on how to reflect these priorities in the next government’s work plan.
