On 28 October, as the mandate of the 13th Saeima draws to a close, President of Latvia Egils Levits presented Presidential Medals to politicians whose efforts have significantly benefitted national development of Latvia. These politicians, who were not elected into the 14th Saeima, were responsible for socially important reforms. President also presented these medals as a token of appreciation for the good bilateral cooperation.
Presidential medal for promoting highly-developed national armed forces was presented to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Artis Pabriks.
Presidential medal for strengthening the rule of law in Latvia was presented to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Justice Jānis Bordāns.
Presidential medal for administrative territorial reform, drafting of the Law on Latvian Historical Lands and Law on Local Governments was presented to Chair of the Saeima Administrative Territorial Reform Committee Juris Pūce.
Presidential medal for drafting of the public digital media governance law, amendments to law on Latvian Orthodox Church, as well as inclusion of national partisans armed resistance remembrance day and official language day in the list of official holidays, was presented to Chair of the Saeima Human Rights and Public Affairs Artuss Kaimiņš.
