On 12 August President of Latvia Egils Levits met with European youths participating in the seminar “Latvia Close-up”.

The youths discussed with the President of Latvia a broad range of topics — education, internship and employment opportunities in Latvia and Europe, youth involvement in the non-governmental sector, participation of compatriots in diaspora activities, and maintenance of the Latvian identity. The President of Latvia shared his experiences from his school and university days, career and civic activity.

The President of Latvia wished the youths to devote time to developing versatile personalities, establishing contacts, getting acquainted with various areas and sectors, strengthening their social skills. The President of Latvia also reminded the youths: “The environment and society we live in is only as good as we are willing to make it.”

The seminar “Latvia Close-up” is being held for the second time, and it provides youths from the diaspora and Latvia a chance to meet and discuss the advantages Latvia has to offer for European youths. During the seminar, participants can find out about study, internship, leisure and business opportunities in Latvia, as well as see interesting sites and meet with inspiring individuals. The seminar “Latvia Close-up” is organised by youth organisation “European Youths”, the European Latvian Association and the World Association of Free Latvians.
