Raimonds Vējonis
On Saturday, September 10, workshop “Improvement of Legislative Process” organized by the Commission for Legal Environment Improvement established by President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis will take place in the Riga Castle. Latvian and foreign legal experts will discuss the opportunities to improve the legislative process at the workshop.

 

President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis has emphasized the importance of reliable, predictable, and stable legal environment and the fact that economic growth of the country and development of national economy is possible only with high-quality laws and a strong judiciary repeatedly. The workshop is anticipated as a think tank for ideas and initiatives by searching the best solutions for improvement of the legislative process and quality of laws.

 

President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis will open the workshop with his speech at 2 p.m. Chairperson of the Commission for Legal Environment Improvement Aivars Endziņš will present on the opportunities to improve the legislative process in Latvia, Vice-president of the Council of State of France Jean-Marc Sauve will present operation and role of the French Council of State in ensuring quality of legislation. Judge of the Constitutional Court of Latvia Ineta Ziemele will analyse the necessity for a council of state in state system of Latvia, while Vice-Speaker of the Saeima Inese Lībiņa-Egnere will talk about the parliamentary capacity in the legislative process. The workshop will be concluded with exchange of ideas and discussions.
