As the presidency of President of Latvia Egils Levits draws to a close, Olena Zelenska, the spouse of the President of Ukraine, has sent a letter of thanks to Andra Levite, emphasising the good cooperation and especially the close friendship that has developed between the spouses of the two Presidents.
‘I am extremely grateful to the President of Latvia, Mr. Egils Levits, and to you for your constant support and assistance to Ukraine and solidarity with the Ukrainian people during this brutal war that Russia is waging against our country’, writes O. Zelenska.
The spouse of President of Ukraine expresses deep gratitude for A. Levite’s significant contribution to the first and second summits of First Ladies and Gentlemen, which were held in Kyiv in 2021 and 2022. ‘Your support and active participation in this initiative is extremely important to me’, said O. Zelenska.
O. Zelenska highly appreciates the fact that the President of Latvia and Andra Levite went to Ukraine several times during the war.
In her letter, the spouse of the President of Ukraine thanks A. Levite for her active participation in the implementation of several projects related to the mental and psychological rehabilitation of Ukrainian children, as well as for her contribution to the implementation of a mental health programme to support Ukrainian children and women most affected by the war.
O. Zelenska also thanked A. Levite for visiting Ukrainian soldiers receiving medical treatment in Latvia on several occasions.
The spouse of the President of Ukraine also warmly refers to the patronage of A. Levite for the book ‘Bilingvālā ābece’ (Latvian-Ukrainian Illustrated ABC): ‘I am convinced that this project will contribute to the fastest possible integration of our children into Latvian society, and Latvian children will also be able to participate in the study of the Ukrainian language, culture and customs.’
The spouse of the President of Ukraine says that she would be happy to continue the friendship and wished E. Levits and A. Levite success in their future activities, peace and well-being.
