President of Latvia and Andris Vilks, Director of the National Library, talked about possible cooperation in the coming years. Director of the National Library presented library’s plans to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the first book published in Latvian and 100th birthday of Gunārs Birkerts, the architect who designed the National Library, in 2025. He also invited President Levits to become the patron of both events. President and Director agreed to jointly work on series of conferences and events in 2025 to promote public awareness about evolution of Latvia through centuries and how development of language has influenced the formation of our nation.
President of Latvia also stressed: ‘Technological development forces us to take a serious look at how human sciences and social frameworks should control development of artificial intelligence. In 10 years from now, people will still want to know which products have been created by artificial intelligence and which by humans. It is crucial to preserve the human authenticity.’
Egils Levits and Andra Levite also visited exhibition devoted to the project for illuminating Freedom Monument, multimedia exhibition ‘Singers of Folksongs. 1991’, Rarities collection and exhibition ‘Hernhutian scriptures’.
