Justice Minister presented the progress with establishment of specialised economic crime courts and practical steps towards making them operational. President Levits and Minister Bordāns both praised the active cooperation between the office of the President, Saeima and executive branch of the government in bringing the idea of economic crime courts closer to implementation.
Other topics of the meeting included financial crime prosecution efficiency and possible need to make changes in procedural rules and other related laws. President Levits emphasised that responsible authorities and legislature should do whatever is necessary to prevent any delays in prosecuting these types of offences due to abuse of bureaucratic loopholes.
Meeting then moved on to the topic of combating disinformation. President called for additional focus on these issues as disinformation and online regulations are very important for the modern world.
