On 5 April, district (city) court judges Dans Dibaņins, Evija Ofkante and Kristaps Bresis took the judicial oath (solemn promise) before the President of Latvia Egils Levits at the Riga Castle.
Addressing the new judges, President Egils Levits said: “In the legal profession, being a judge is the highest possible achievement. It is a very responsible and at the same time independent position, and this is also reflected in the oath you have just taken. It is about justice, independence and about loyalty to the Latvian State, the Constitution and the law. These are the only limitations in the work of a judge. You are all experienced lawyers, you have been close to the justice system. This experience will be very useful to you. I wish you success!”
