First Lady of Latvia Iveta Vējone visited the Children’s Hospice Tbilisi for palliative care and the Portage Centre for children’s early development during the state visit to Georgia.

Children’s Hospice Tbilisi for Palliative Care offers twenty-four-hour services for children suffering from chronic progressive diseases. The Hospice has received funding from the Reserve Fund of the President of Georgia, and First Lady of Georgia Maka Chichua participated in the opening ceremony of the Hospice.

Iveta Vējone also visited the Portage Centre for Early Development, where Portage programme, an early correction and upbringing system, for children with mental disabilities is implemented. This international program was introduced in Georgia in 2006 thanks to the successful cooperation with the Latvian Portage Association.
