First Lady of Latvia Iveta Vējone met with employees of Latvian diaspora schools at the Permanent Mission of Latvia to the United Nations in New York o September 21. Administrators, teachers, and parents of both Latvian congregation schools in New York, as well as representatives of Garezers Latvian Summer High School attended the meeting.

 

During the meeting, the schools presented their activities, shared their plans for the future, and welcomed the recently well-established co-operation with the Latvian authorities responsible for cooperation with the diaspora. All schools presented drafted informative materials and magazines with the works created by children to First Lady of Latvia Iveta Vējone.

 

“I wish you success during the recently started school year! I am pleased with the activities you organize so that the children and their parents living in the USA could maintain a close link with their homeland Latvia,” said the First Lady of Latvia.

 

Iveta Vējone is the patroness of Latvian diaspora schools by taking care of the Latvian children, young people, and teachers around the world.

 

In the US, there are currently 16 Latvian schools attended by more than 500 students.
