According to the decision of the Chapter of Orders of 18 October 2023, the highest state honours – Order of the Three Stars, Order of Viesturs and Cross of Recognition – were granted.
The highest Latvian State awards are conferred on people whose honest professional and public work, active civic stance, selflessness, courage and patriotism strengthen our Latvia and are worthy of the highest recognition and honour.
The Chapter of Orders noted that honours have been granted to exceptional individuals in various fields from all over Latvia. Among them outstanding teachers and scientists; cultural workers, the Song and Dance Festival’ tradition-keepers; medical professionals who courageously and selflessly work to ensure public health for a long time; members of National Armed Forces and National Guard, State Police officers and State Border guards strengthen our national security, our common defence capabilities and protect our national borders; the custodians of historical memory and cultural heritage; public figures who dedicate their work to the patriotic education of young people and the strengthening of civic values; selfless providers of assistance to Ukraine, its soldiers and civilians.
The highest honours – Order of the Three Stars, Order of Viesturs and Cross of Recognition – will be presented on the 105th Anniversary of Proclamation of the Republic of Latvia on 18 November 2023 at 15:30 in the Riga Castle. Ceremony will be broadcast live on Channel 1 of the Latvian Television.
