According to the decision of the President of Latvia and Chapter of Orders on 10 April 2024, the highest awards of the state of Latvia – the Order of the Three Stars, Order of Viesturs and Cross of Recognition – have been awarded.
The highest state awards of Latvia are given to individuals whose professional and public work, civic activism, selflessness, and patriotism contribute to the strengthening of our country and are deserving of the highest recognition and honour.
The Chapter of Orders has announced that this year, on the centenary of the Order of the Three Stars and the 30th anniversary of its restoration, aa well as on the 20th anniversary of the restoration of the Order of Viesturs and the Cross of Recognition, the highest state awards are granted to distinguished representatives from various fields across Latvia, whose work has made an extraordinary contribution to the country.
The distinguished recipients include justice sector and law enforcement officers, education and culture professionals, entrepreneurs, as well as active, selfless supporters of Ukraine, its soldiers, civilians and refugees in Latvia. These are the people who served with utmost commitment and dedication in providing health services and palliative care of our children in Latvia. We also have the opportunity to honour soldiers of the National Armed Forces and the National Guard, State Police officers, firefighters and border guards who contribute to our national security, strengthen our collective resilience, and protect our borders.
The ceremonial presentation of the highest state awards of Latvia – Order of the Three Stars, Order of Viesturs and Cross of Recognition – will take place on the 34th anniversary of the restoration of independence of the Republic of Latvia, 4 May, at 15.00 at the Riga Castle. The ceremony will be broadcast live on Latvian Television Channel 1.
