On 22 August, at Riga Castle the judicial oath was given to President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs by Sandra Kalniņa, justice of Vidzeme Regional Court, Kaspars Kukmilks, justice of Vidzeme Regional Court, Dagnija Palčevska, justice of Riga City Court, and Sindija Zemīte, justice of Riga City Court.
“I am truly pleased to see such excellent professionals joining our judiciary. Looking at your resumes, I see you possess the experience and knowledge to fulfil the duties of a justice with excellence. And as you just said when giving the judicial oath, you will administer justice in compliance with the law and fairness. That is my wish to you! But I also wish you to always keep in mind that not only must all judgements be substantiated in the name of the law, they must also be explained to people. Keep in mind that you are often the last hope for people. You will often have the final word. And that final word must be grounded and explained,” President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs said when addressing the justices.
