On 4 January, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with the Auditor General of the Republic of Latvia Edgars Korčagins in the Riga Castle. During the meeting, the priorities of the State Audit Office for 2024 were discussed.
The President of Latvia congratulated E. Korčagins on assuming the office of Auditor General and wished him to strengthen the audit work. During the meeting, President Rinkēvičs was informed about the planned audits of the State Audit Office in 2024 and their thematic scope, including the upcoming audits for the expediency of businesses and financial audits.
The officials also discussed the actions of the Rezekne State city municipality in budgetary and financial management, which is not in line with the legislation of the Republic of Latvia.
