On 31 October, President of Latvia Egils Levits swear in district (city) judges Laura Smukule, Miks Čevers, Gunta Lauska and Ilona Sabīne Sviķe who gave their judicial oath during a special ceremony in the Riga Castle.

Powers vested in you require you to be independent or have the capacity to make autonomous decisions free from any outside influence. Capacity developed with experience,’ President of Latvia said to new judges.
