In reply to the call of Stradiņš Hospital to donate blood for the patients of cardiology and other departments thereof, 40 persons donated blood on the Donor Day at the Chancery of the President of Latvia. Employees of the Chancery of the President of Latvia and the soldiers of Military Police guarding the President of Latvia, as well as colleagues from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development donated their blood.
The campaign was organized in response to the call of Spokesperson of Clinical University Hospital named after Pauls Stradiņš Ms. Lāsma Sīle for supporting the President of Latvia by donating blood for the patients of cardiac surgery and other departments of the Hospital.

At the Latvian Cardiology Centre of Stradiņš Hospital, additional medical examinations of President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis were carried out. Physicians stated a sepsis infection affecting his heart valves. Stradiņš Hospital representatives notified that in their statement. A team of cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and all involved experts has decided that elimination of the focus of infection is the most important now in order to prevent its further spread, and the way to do this is a cardiac surgery. Heart surgery of the President of Latvia is made successfully on the same day.
