The President of Latvia stressed, “Latvia and Sweden share both the geographical location on the shores of the Baltic Sea and a common history of more than a thousand years. Democracy, freedom, and solidarity are the values that we stand for and are ready to defend today.”
During the visit, HRH Crown Princess and HRH Prince of Sweden will visit the Riga Castle, where they will meet with President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis and First Lady of Latvia Iveta Vējone. During the visit, a painting, a replica of the portrait of Mr Erik Jonsson Dahlberg, the Governor of Vidzeme and Riga, will be unveiled at the Riga Castle. The portrait is painted according to the original materials of Swedish painter David Klocker Ehrenstrahle by Ms Kristīne Ķibermane, the student of the Latvian Academy of Art.
After visiting the Riga Castle, HRH Crown Princess of Sweden and HRH Prince will visit the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga, where they will meet with Rector Anders Paalzow and representatives of the Future Leaders Academy program. In addition, a visit to the National Library of Latvia is planned, where the exchange of state gifts will take place. HRH Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and HRH Prince Daniel will donate a book to the People’s Bookshelf and attend exhibition “In the Trails of Boat Refugees” together with the President of Latvia and First Lady Iveta Vējone.
At the end of the visit, HRH Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and HRH Prince Daniel will attend the exhibition “Portable Landscape” at the Latvian National Museum of Art.
