Raimonds Vējonis
In order to strengthen the confidence in a professional and fair trial, whom one could trust, the judges of the Supreme Court of Latvia should participate in improvement of Latvian legal system and public legal and political discussions being significant for the public, as President of Latvia  Raimonds Vējonis stressed in his greetings to the plenary assembly of the Supreme Court of Latvia convened today.

The President of Latvia indicated that the rulings of the Cassation Court were final and unchallengeable; thus, the responsibility for them was particularly high. The public expects forward-looking and Latvia’s legal framework developing rulings from the Supreme Court that would strengthen the rule of law and the values laid down in the Satversme (Constitution of Latvia).

“Evaluation of Latvia’s legal system in the eyes of the public, businesses, and foreign investors depend on your commitment and integrity, whether Latvian laws are clear and predictable, whether making a fair judgment is possible, and whether there is one law, one justice for all,” stated the President of Latvia in his greetings.
