“Latvia, like the United States, is associating its economic growth with new technologies and innovative solutions. In close cooperation with the United States, we will be able to achieve the goals we have set faster.

The progress already reached evidence that, for instance, Northern Europe Innovation Centre opened in Riga enables us an opportunity to work together both to create new technological solutions and to provide a basis for their wider use in the national economy,” stressed President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis, when opening the first U.S. - Baltic Business Summit (hereinafter referred to as ‘Business Summit’) in Washington on 3 April 2018.

The President of Latvia acknowledged that there are Latvian businesspersons from various sectors already working in the United States. “Latvian companies such as Valmiera Glass Fibre and Printful have established their representative offices in California, Georgia, and North Carolina. I am pleased that more and more entrepreneurs dare to enter the US market in search of new directions of corporate development and contribution to the economic development of Latvia and the United States,” stated Raimonds Vējonis.

After the Business Summit in Washington, the President of Latvia will visit San Francisco and the Silicon Valley, where a visit to the LIAA Representative Office in the USA, a meeting with Latvian businesspersons operating in the Silicon Valley and representatives of the local Latvian diaspora in San Francisco and New York are scheduled. Meetings with social media companies Facebook and Google are also planned.

President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis pays a working visit to the United States from 2 April to 7 April 2018.
