President Levits and Minister Reinsalu both noted that bilateral relations and Baltic-Finnish regional cooperation has considerably intensified during the COVID-19 pandemic. President and Estonian Foreign Minister also pointed out that it is necessary to continue seeking ways of facilitating economic cooperation and tourism between all three Baltic neighbours even further during the pandemic. ‘Bilateral relations between our two countries are excellent. Cooperation has become even closer during the Covid-19 pandemic,’ said Urmas Reinsalu. ‘Close cooperation between the three Baltic nations is our greatest asset. Our people are acutely aware of that, and we need to use it as a firm foundation for further deepening of our ties,’ underlined President Levits.
On top of discussing bilateral trade and political relations, Minister Reinsalu and President Levits also touched upon the European Union and NATO agenda, visit of the French President Emmanuel Macron to Latvia and the importance of international involvement in resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in peaceful manner.
Egils Levits and Urmas Reinsalu also spoke about the progress within the Three Seas Initiative and the forthcoming virtual conference in Tallin on 19 October. Minister Reinsalu confirmed that Estonia is happy that President Levits has accepted the invitation to participate in the conference.
