The Biedermeier styled mahogany furniture set that had been severely damaged by fire in the castle regained its former glamour after restoration and was installed again in the Green Salon. Similarly, the furniture set made according to the sketches by architect Eizens Laube for the State Festival Hall and benches of staircases were returned after restoration.
Also framing of restored paintings is currently taking place. Two paintings by old master Vilhelms Purvītis, which previously were located in the President’s Study, will decorate the memorial study of Jānis Čakste; the portrait of Duchess Dorothea of Courland painted by Johann Heinrich Schroeder in the first half of the 18th century will be hung again in the Dorothea Room, while a restored copy of Riga panorama by Daniel Brusen painted in late 18th century will be placed in Riga Room in Riga Castle.
The Chancery of the President of Latvia will deposit a variety of the works of art from the collections of five Latvian museums in total for decoration of Riga Castle.
It is provided that the President of Latvia and the Chancery of the President of Latvia will resume work to full extent in Riga Castle before the end of August with the guard of honour being resumed and the Standard of the President of Latvia being hoisted on the tower of Riga Castle.
