On April 1, First Lady of Latvia, gynaecologist Andra Levite, at the Annual Awards in Medicine 2022 presentation ceremony presented the Midwife of the Year 2022 award to Inga Losāne, midwife at Kuldīga Hospital.
Congratulating midwife Inga Losāne, A. Levite said:
"We humans are different. We get excited or feel sad about different things. We make different decisions in life. But all good people have the unshakable conviction that giving life, protecting life, caring for the future of people, especially children, is a noble duty. It deserves to be recognised and rewarded. Conversely, actions that aim to wreak havoc and destroy people’s lives and future, as we are now seeing in Ukraine, will be punished. Our laureate today, with her professionalism, sincerity, and love, undoubtedly stands on the bright side of humanity. Helping newborn babies to start life is a true joy. It gives satisfaction in the meaning of one's life and profession".
