Valsts prezidents akreditē Ēģiptes, Kipras un Turkmenistānas vēstniekus
On Tuesday, 6 March 2018, the Ambassadors of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Republic of Cyprus and Turkmenistan submit their credentials to the President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis.

During a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of Latvia Mr Alaa Hegazy, the President of Latvia voiced confirmed Latvia’s intention to facilitate a political dialogue with Egypt. Raimonds Vējonis voiced Latvia’s interest in expanding and developing trade relations, including with North African countries, as well as expanding economic cooperation by strengthening existing co-operation in the wood processing industry and further developing the foreruns in the food industry.

During the conversation with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cyprus to the Republic of Latvia Mr Sotos A. Liassides, the President of Latvia praised the current bilateral relations between the countries, cooperation within the European Union and international organisations. Raimonds Vējonis stressed that Latvia was interested in strengthening political dialogue, as well as economic cooperation, and other forms of collaboration.

In his turn, when meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Latvia Mr Nazarkuly Shakuliev, the President of Latvia acknowledged that good relations have been established between Latvia and Turkmenistan within 25 years since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties, as evidenced by the exchange of high-level visits. Raimonds Vējonis stressed that Latvia and Turkmenistan had right preconditions for the development of parliamentary cooperation, and he also appreciated cooperation in the framework of the Intergovernmental Commission of Latvia and Turkmenistan. The countries in Central Asia are substantial partners of Latvia in transport and logistics. Therefore, further work is required to develop economic cooperation between the two countries by seeking solutions to the obstacles that hinder cooperation between businesses.
