Today is a big day for both the Combat Support Battalion and the whole Land Force Mechanised Infantry Brigade.
Mechanised Infantry Brigade is the backbone of the National Armed Forces, the most powerful unit of the Latvian army and the cornerstone of national security.
‘No support, no victory’ says the moto of the Combat Support Battalion. Brigade would not be able to achieve its targets without the support battalion.
Communications, supply, transportation, maintenance support, repairs, guards and medical staff are indispensable for combat units. During the Silver Bullet 2019 military exercise, you passed the test of your abilities with flying colours and made sure the units of Brigade are always combat ready and demonstrate high efficiency in meeting training goals.
Dear soldiers,
Your battalion was established on 9 December 2019. However, a unit is complete only when it has its own flag. Flags have always had symbolic meaning for the National Armed Forces. During the interwar period army and defence force divisions had the total of more than 40 flags.
The flag that will be presented to you in a short while is the binding element that will consolidate your unit. Flags have always been the main source of pride of any military unit. Unit flag must be protected by all means. I hope the new flag will become the symbol of the Combat Support Battalion. May this flag become the manifestation of your fighting spirit and patriotism of all Latvian soldiers.
