Good evening, ladies and gentlemen,
It is my great pleasure to welcome you here at the official workplace of the President of Latvia. I am happy to welcome here all enablers, facilitators and supporters of the Latvian economy.
We could even say that hosting of this ceremony has become an established tradition already. Latvian Employers’ Confederation (LDDK) awarded business champions when Latvia celebrated centenary, and this year when we celebrate the 101st Anniversary of Latvia we meet again here to honour the most successful employers. The way you start your century will determine how your century will go.
Country cannot develop without economic growth. The purpose of the LDDK Annual Award is to honour our most enterprising, socially-responsible and thus best employers – to recognise their efforts in creating all the good jobs and taking care of their employees. I think the anniversary of our state is the appropriate moment for such acknowledgement.
Love is the most important word in this world. In the broadest of senses. If you love what you do, you enjoy it and you also inspire and make others more prosperous. Prosperity is what we all should strive for.
A responsible employer is like a beacon that not only illuminates the way towards the ultimate destination and ensures a safe journey but also takes responsibility for the well-being of each employee and his or her family, and, moreover, does so on day-to-day basis, even outside working hours, because human resources are the biggest asset our country has. You are the ones who nurture, develop and support our human resources. Along with core business activities, you primarily work with your human resources, and your staff is the main asset of your business organisation and the whole country.
I hope you will have an uplifting evening tonight, especially those 11 of you who have been recognised the best entrepreneurs of the year.
