Dear people of Latvia!
Each and everyone of you!
105 years have passed since the establishment of our Latvian State.
105 years is just enough for us to no longer be able to imagine what it would be like to be without Latvia.
A lot has happened in that time. Powers have changed. The world has changed. We have changed too. But one thing remains the same. Our ability to achieve great things.
Proclamation of independence.
Freedom battles.
Awakening.
Restoration of independence.
Latvia in Europe and NATO.
Our support for Ukraine in its freedom struggle.
And at all times, the Song Festival, when we show our belonging to our land and our country. When we feel so vividly as Latvians. When we are so much a part of Latvia.
The country is our home. It is not always perfect here. But home is home. It needs to be kept in order all the time. Everyone has to do their little bit to keep everything together. There is not always enough time and energy for everything. But we try anyway. No one else will do it for us. And we continue to work, we find strength and courage and on and overcome any obstacles ahead of us. Today, we must also step up the efforts and make our Latvia better.
However, it is important that every Latvian patriot feels at home in his or her heart and mind. So we can overcome the gap between those more and less fortunate. So that we can give each other a hand. So we can not only talk at each other but with each other but also So everyone be able to dream and make their dreams come true.
This year I have visited many municipalities, towns and parishes across Latvia. Everywhere I see and feel the work of our Latvian people and their pride in our country, in our Latvia. They are not afraid to fall, get up and keep going. Yes, there will be falls, there will be mistakes, but we know that together we are a force to be reckoned with. The founding fathers of Latvia would be proud of you. And so am I.
Dear friends!
We understand that our country's independence must be safeguarded. Enemies are trying to intimidate us. Let them try! They will not succeed. Our will to stand up for our country is stronger. Our light is stronger than their darkness. Our warm love is stronger than their empty hatred. Our fatherland and freedom are stronger.
May this conviction inspire us as we build our future!
God bless Latvia!
