On 4 May, marking the Independence Restoration Day, Presidential Chancery and VSIA “Latvijas Koncerti” will offer a series of concerts in different regions of Latvia: Aloja, Auce, Ludza, Lone and Roja. These concerts will be broadcast online on 4 May. All Latvian residents will have the opportunity to watch the concerts free of charge on webpages and Facebook accounts of respective municipalities, and webpage of “Latvijas Koncerti” (www.latvijaskoncerti.lv), from 4 May until the end of the month.

Soundscapes of Latvian chamber jazz, the 4 May concert in Aloja, represents the confluence of classical music and jazz, with classic string quartet bouncing off the sonic colour patterns created by jazz quartet. Concert programme is the co-creation of double bass player Jānis Rubiks and pianist Edgars Cīrulis, two jazz musicians with extensive international concert experience whose original works have been inspired by their native Latvian nature, culture and people. Concert will be streamed live on Aloja Regional Council webpage www.aloja.lvFacebook page www.facebook.com/AlojasPasvaldiba and www.latvijaskoncerti.lv.

Auce will be filled with Latvian folk songs arranged by Raimonds Pauls and performed by acapella band Framest, or Rūta Dūduma (vocals), Beāte Zviedre (vocals), Mikus Abaroniņš (vocals), Jānis Ķirsis (vocals, piano), Jānis Rubiks (upright bass) and Krišjānis Bremšs (percussion). Concert will be streamed live on Auce Regional Council webpage www.auce.lvFacebook account of Auce Culture Centre www.facebook.com/AuceKC and www.latvijaskoncerti.lv.

Southern watercolours, Independence Restoration Day concert in Ludza, is a collaboration between Latvian Radio Big Band and singer Daumants Kalniņš. Concert programme is built around Raimonds Pauls’ music arranged by Kārlis Vanags. Concert will be broadcast on a big screen at the main square of the town, Ludza Regional Council webpage www.ludza.lvFacebook account www.facebook.com/LudzaLvFacebook page of Ludza Community Centre www.facebook.com/ludzastn and www.latvijaskoncerti.lv.

Lone concert Song for Latvia is a performance put together by Trio Angelicus: Elīna Šimkus (soprano), Ieva Šablovska (harp) and Sondra Lejmalniece (flute). Programme is comprised of pieces composed by Latvian composers. According to trio, it is inspired by Ēriks Ešenvalds’ Song of the Soul, with verses of Anita Kārkliņa adding to the unique depiction of Latvia’s regions, nature, shared values and traditions. Other pieces performed by trio are also inspired by love of home country. Concert will be broadcast live on Viesīte Regional Council webpage www.viesite.lvFacebook account www.facebook.com/viesitesnovads and www.latvijaskoncerti.lv.

And Roja will offer the 4 May concert titled One folk song for everyone. Lauris Amantovs’ jazz quartet, or Lauris Amantovs (trombone), Andris Grunte (bass), Viktors Ritovs (keyboards), Artis Orubs (percussion), will accompany singer Inguss Bērziņš. Programme is comprised of Latvian folksong renditions composed by Lauris Amantovs and Viktors Ritovs. Concert will be broadcast live from Roja Culture Centre at 18:00 on “Raida Roja” (Roja on the air)Youtube channel and Facebook account and www.latvijaskoncerti.lv.
