In commemoration of the more than 15 000 Latvian citizens deported to Siberia by the Soviet occupation regime, senior state officials, the Latvian Association of the Politically Repressed and anyone who wishes to honour the memory of the victims will lay flowers at the memorial "History Tactile" - a symbolic tribute to the link between today and the tragedy of our people.
The President of Latvia Egils Levits, and the Deputy Chairman of the Latvian Association of the Politically Repressed Pēteris Simsons will address the commemoration.
At 12.35, the Latvian Association of the Politically Repressed will hold its annual march from the Latvian Occupation Museum to the Freedom Monument, accompanied by the men's folklore group "Vilki".
