On 21 August, at Riga Castle President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs chaired a meeting of the National Security Council (NSC). The agenda of the meeting of the NSC consisted of examining the Military Threat Analysis and improvements to the management of the state material reserves.
Pursuant to Paragraph 2 of Section 28 of the National Security Law, the NSC examined the Military Threat Analysis compiled by the Military Intelligence and Security Service.
At the meeting, the National Security Council also examined the issue of improving the management of the state material reserves. After a report by the Minister of the Interior, the NSC heard information provided by the Minister of Health and the Minister of Economy about the state medicines reserve system and the management of the security reserves of crude oil products. The NSC emphasised the importance of improving the management of the material reserves to ensure that the population is supplied with necessary materials and services in times of crisis.
The NSC also heard reports from state security institutions about the current situation in the state.
